This course follows the BCU 3 star sea syllabus, available here. The 3 star award is a benchmark for intermediate sea kayakers; a 3 star is the standard that most recreational sea kayakers aspire to and reaching this standard opens many trip possibilities for a club or group paddler. This is a certificated course but it can also be attended if you have no wish in gaining qualifications, if you just simply want to develop your sea kayaking skills. The assessment will test your performance in specific sea conditions up to sea state 3 so its important to gain a range of experience in different sea states, wind speeds and wave heights. This video gives a good overview of sea states.
